Marta Kavchak
Portfolio Manager – Investor Solutions Group
Marta has over 14 years of experience in the commodity markets, spanning across trading, portfolio management, and risk management in the physical markets. After starting her career as a trader at Goldman Sachs in New York, Marta was a Portfolio Manager at Gresham Investment Management for 8 years, where she managed long-only / long-biased portfolios within Gresham’s actively managed commodity fund. Marta also spent over 3 years at Archer Daniels Midland as a senior trader, risk manager, and investor for their global commodities businesses.
Marta has a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.
Sam Bezek
General Counsel and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer
Sam has 21 years of combined experience as a financial regulator and in the hedge fund industry. In 2003, Sam began his career as an attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. From 2009-2013, Sam worked as Associate Director in the Office of Fraud Detection and Market Intelligence at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Following his time as a regulator, from 2013-2023, Sam worked for Corvex Management LP, a SEC registered investment adviser, where he was Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to joining Quantix, Sam was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Armistice Capital, LLC, a SEC registered investment adviser.
Sam has a BA in Political Science from the University of Arizona and a JD from Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law.
Sylvie Williams
Investor Relations Associate
Sylvie was previously a Client Associate in the Private Wealth Management division at Neuberger Berman. Prior to joining Neuberger Berman, Sylvie worked as an Editorial Assistant for an online non-profit news organization in the Investigative Journalism department.
Sylvie has a BA in English Literature and History from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK.
Kenny Shah
Operations Associate
Kenny was previously a Commodities Trade Support Analyst for Morgan Stanley Fixed Income division, concentrating in natural gas and energy products. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley full time, Kenny did a summer internship in Investment Management Operations at Morgan Stanley.
Kenny has a BS in Finance from Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick.
Lizzy Coursen
Investor Relations
Lizzy has 12 years of experience in the hedge fund and private equity industries. Prior to joining Quantix in 2023, Lizzy was an Associate Director of Investor Relations at Lone Pine Capital, LLC from 2016 to 2021. Before joining Lone Pine in 2016, Lizzy was a Client Manager at Carta Fund Services, LLC, a Senior Fund Accountant at Portfolio Advisors, LLC, and an Audit Senior Assistant at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Lizzy has a BS in Accounting from Fairfield University.
Michael Todd
Operations Manager
Michael was previously an Operations Manager at Prelude Capital Management, LLC. He was responsible for all aspects of Manager Onboarding and Trade Operations for the firm’s flagship multi-manager funds and worked closely with the fund administrator. Prior thereto, Michael was an Operations and Trading Associate at Three Bridges Capital, L.P. where he helped implement the firm’s operational policies and procedures and played a key role in trading execution and operations. Michael started his career as an Analyst in the Risk function at Barclays PLC.
Michael has a BS in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Ryan Rasor
Quantitative Analyst / Junior Trader
Ryan was previously a Quantitative Associate on the Emerging Markets Debt team at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Ryan was an Analyst and then an Associate in the Financial Markets practice at Charles River Associates, an economic/litigation consulting firm based in Boston.
Ryan has a BA in Economics with a minor in Finance from Boston College.
Christian Baker
Technologist
Christian was previously a Software Engineer at Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution (DMED) where he built applications and tools to support a real time recommendation system for ESPN/ESPN+ content.
Prior to Disney, Christian was a Data Engineer at Nielsen on their Marketing Cloud team.
Christian has a BS in Mathematics from New York University.
Andrew Goldsmith
Head of Business Development, Investor Solutions Group
Andy has over 26 years of experience in financial services. He joined Quantix in 2023 to lead the business development efforts for the Investor Solutions Group, utilizing his extensive relationships with institutional investors and their consultants. Most recently he was at Rockefeller Capital Management leading the institutional efforts to raise capital for the Rockefeller strategies. Prior to Rockefeller, Andy was Senior Managing Director of Investor & Consultant Relations at TerraCap Management, a boutique private equity real estate firm. Before that, he spent 7.5 years at Tortoise Capital Advisors as Head of Institutional Sales & Consultant Relations, raising awareness and capital for Energy Infrastructure strategies. He has also held leadership positions at ClearBridge Advisors and Reserve Funds and earlier in his career worked at Bear Stearns and Kemper Funds.
Andy has a BA in Anthropology from Haverford College.
Don Casturo
Founding Partner, Chief Investment Officer
Don has 26 years of experience in commodity markets. He had a 20 year career at Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner in the commodity group. From 2015-2018 he was Head of Commodity Trading for all of EMEA. Prior to that he served as Global Commodities COO and managed the Global Investor Products Desk from 2007-2013. In addition, he was the lead Crude Derivatives trader from 1998-2006, member of the LME User Committee, member of the CFTC Market Advisory Committee and speaker at the Position Limit Hearing in 2008.
Don has an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Michael Steele
Quantitative Analyst / Trader
Michael was previously a research associate at Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), concentrating in U.S. Natural Gas and LNG. Prior to joining BNEF, Michael worked in analytics at Bloomberg L.P. as an advanced specialist in commodities and equity derivatives.
Michael has a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dan Cole
Global Head of Business Development & Investor Relations
Dan has spent over 17 years in the financial services industry acting as a specialist intermediary between managers and allocators. After starting his career at Goldman Sachs in 2004, Dan spent seven years in different roles, including in the Quantitative Investment Strategies team in GSAM and lived through the ‘quant quake’ in 2007. He moved to Highbridge Capital Management in 2010 to build the USD7bn UCITS alternatives business, largely based on statistical arbitrage strategies. Dan joined Hutchin Hill in 2015 to run the USD2bn International client business, serving several of the firm’s largest clients and consultant relationships.
Dan has a First Class Honours BSc in Mathematics & Physics, Warwick University.
Daniel Cepeda
Founding Partner, Portfolio Manager
Daniel has 16 years of experience in the commodity markets. During his career at Goldman Sachs, Daniel was Head of Commodity Structured Products, Head of Commodity Index Options and Head of Base Metal Derivatives. Daniel started his Goldman Sachs career as an Associate in New York, spent two years in London restructuring the Base Metals Derivatives business and was a Managing Director in Commodities for five years.
Daniel has a BA in Mathematics from Trinity University, an MA in Mathematics with a specialization in Mathematical Finance from Columbia University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
John Piotrowski
Quantitative Strategist
John has 11 years of experience in trading, investing, and financial technology. At Goldman Sachs, John built optimal execution algorithms across the Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities business, and later led quant teams building pricing, portfolio optimization, and risk management solutions. He left GS to found (and sell) a capital markets infrastructure company and worked with various hedge funds and proprietary trading firms to implement trading strategies across global rates, credit, and futures markets.
John has a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia and a MS in Financial Engineering from New York University.
Leif Jensen
Quantitative Strategist
Leif has 15 years of experience in the commodity markets. At Goldman Sachs, Leif developed risk management systems and index investment strategies in collaboration with the traders now on the Quantix team. He later joined Macquarie Bank at the inception of their commodity index business in 2013 to build the commodity index risk management infrastructure.
Leif has a BA in Mathematics from Princeton University and a PhD in Mathematics from New York University.
Marc Srolovits
Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer
Marc Srolovits has 16 years of experience in the hedge fund industry with 10 years of commodity hedge fund experience. Prior to joining Quantix in 2018, Marc was an Executive Director at Taylor Woods Capital Management LLC and prior to joining Taylor Woods in 2011, Marc was a Senior Associate in the Operational Risk Due Diligence Practice at Duff & Phelps, a Senior Treasury Operations Associate at Plainfield Asset Management, and a Fund Accountant at SS&C GlobeOp.
Marc has a BA in Economics from Yeshiva University.
Tom Glanfield
Founding Partner, Portfolio Manager
Tom has 15 years of experience in the commodity markets. During his career at Goldman Sachs, Tom was the Global Head of Investor Swaps Trading, Lead Index Options and Commodity Structured Products Trader, Head of European Oil Products and Global Head of Oil Derivatives. Tom started his Goldman Sachs career in Commodity Investor Products business with a focus on new product development before moving to the trading side of the business where he ultimately ran the largest commodity index swaps book and oversaw index futures trading for Goldman Sachs. Tom was a Managing Director in commodities for six years and worked in both New York and London.
Tom has a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Andrew Weinstein
Deputy CFO/COO
Andrew has 16 years of industry experience in operations and accounting functions and over a decade of that in hedge funds. Before joining Quantix in 2021 as Deputy CFO/COO, Andrew was a Controller at Bienville Capital Management, where he oversaw all accounting and operational duties for the firm’s flagship fund and special opportunities vehicle. Prior to Bienville, Andrew spent 8 years at Titan Advisors as a fund accountant for managed account portfolios across a broad array of investment strategies. Andrew worked three years at KPMG in their Financial Risk Management Advisory business.
Andrew has a BS in Accountancy with a Major in Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University.
Matthew Schwab
Head of Investor Solutions
Matthew has 25 years of experience in the commodity markets. Prior to joining Quantix, Matthew was a Managing Director and co-head of Research, Portfolio Management, and Portfolio Construction for the Alternative Investment Strategies group within Quantitative Investment Strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Prior to that he was global head of Systematic Trading Strategies in the Securities Division. He joined Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director in London in 2007 and relocated to New York in 2009.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Matthew was a managing director and commodity strategist at AIG Financial Products in Wilton, Connecticut. Earlier in his career, he was a director and co-head of Commodity Investor Solutions at Barclays Capital, prior to which he was global head of Precious and Base Metals Derivatives Trading at Barclays.
Matthew has a BA in History, with high honors, and Sociology from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in 1993.
Nancy McCarthy
Director of Operations
Nancy has 15 years of industry experience in hedge fund operations and fund accounting functions. Before joining Quantix, Nancy worked at Point 72 Asset Management where she was responsible for all aspects of Trade Operations across a variety of products including equities, bonds, futures, options, FX, CDS/IRS. She also managed a team of fund accountants overseeing external/internal audits and working closely with the fund administrator.
Nancy has a BA in Management from Iona College.
Nick Liu
Quantitative Analyst / Trader
Nick was previously a quantitative researcher at ExodusPoint Capital Management, specializing in trading strategies in global rates and inflation market space. Prior to ExodusPoint, Nick was a quantitative research analyst at MIO Partners within the volatility portfolio management team.
Nick has a BS in Applied Mathematics and Business Administration from University of Southern California and a MS in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University.
Dirk Heijs
Quantitative Strategist
Dirk has 16 years of experience in the financial markets. Prior to joining Quantix, Dirk was head of Quantitative Equities strategists, focused on building out the research architecture, within the Quantitative Investment Strategies group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Prior to that, he was developing systematic macro strategies and portfolio construction techniques for the Alternative Investment Strategies team within the same group. Dirk joined Goldman Sachs as an Associate in 2006 where he worked with the Quantix team and developed commodity risk management systems and index investment strategies.
Dirk has a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Physics from University of Groningen.
Allen Worth
Quantitative Analyst / Trader
Allen was previously a senior analyst at New Holland Capital, covering their external commodities and carbon allocations. Prior to New Holland, Allen was an investment associate at Bridgewater Associates on the FX research team.
Allen has a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.
Meghan Morris
Office Administrator
Meghan has 20 years of administrative experience in the private equity and hedge fund industry. Meghan was previously an executive assistant and administrative associate with Lion's View Partners, LLC.
Before joining Lion's View, Meghan worked as an executive assistant and office manager at Taylor Woods Capital Management LLC and a senior administrative assistant at Plainfield Asset Management LLC.
Eiman Alian
Head of Global Energy – Quantix Global Energy Strategy
Eiman has over 16 years of experience in commodity markets, with a focus on global energy trading across some of the industry’s leading financial and physical trading platforms. He began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 7 years from 2006 to 2013, running a proprietary trading book across global crude oil and refined product derivatives. Eiman joined Vitol in 2014 where he was made a Partner, managed a proprietary trading book, and was responsible for the build-out of the US Oil Derivatives Trading desk. Eiman joined Macquarie in 2018 where he was made Executive Director. He managed a proprietary trading book and was the Global Head of both the Crude Oil and Fuel Oil Trading businesses.
Eiman has a BS in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Leonid Kritz
Quantitative Analyst
Leonid has ten years of experience in financial markets. From 2017-2023, he was a Quantitative Developer and Analyst at Acadian Asset Management, working on the multi-asset class strategy team, primarily in commodities. Prior to that, he worked for Milliman Financial Risk Management’s quantitative portfolio management team.
Leonid has a BS in Mathematics and Financial Economics from the University of Maryland and an MS in Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Derek Miller
Controller
Derek has 7 years of experience in accounting and operations functions. Derek was previously the Controller at Poet Hill Capital Management, overseeing all accounting duties for the firm’s hedge fund vehicles. Prior to Poet Hill, Derek spent 3 years as the Assistant Controller at Prana Capital Management. Derek began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in their audit business.
Derek has an MS in Accounting and a BS in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
